Mummified fetuses and stillborn piglets were submitted for post mortem examination. Two of the litters (a and b) were recovered by the farmer in the farrowing pens where gilts showing signs of imminent farrowing (nest building activity and mammary development) farrowed at a delayed stage (> 118 days of gestation).
